PROCESSING PARAMETERS

Comparison table for different grinding wheels, pressures, and speeds. The measured finish result is the average roughness Ra, measured in thousandths of a millimeter. Processing is subject to many parameters such as grinding wheel cleanliness, diamond dressing condition, and grinding wheel-machine coupling. For example, a B91 grinding wheel with a dirty and poorly dressed cutting edge may remove less material than a B64 with a new cutting edge.

GRINDING WHEEL GEOMETRY AND RESULTING ANGLE

As all expert users know, the PRO machine, to achieve maximum sharpness with minimal burr, touches the edge from only one side. Consequently, the concavity and convexity of the grinding wheel affect the resulting angle. Specifically, after initial use, new grinding wheels will take on the appropriate shape, allowing the machine to achieve its calibrated angle. To simplify the use of grinding wheels and make them compatible with different angles from the very beginning, we have calculated the inclinations of the grinding wheels and their resulting angles and compiled them in this table. It is therefore possible to compensate for the grinding wheel's condition by measuring its convexity.
